Higher studies in Australia

...
I will be glad, if I get the opportunity to keep steps for our younger brothers, who want to go abroad for their study and job purposes.

For your kind information, at this moment, I am living in Bangladesh. Most of our cadets during our days (1992-1998), knew me as, Hasan /29th Intake/B-1572. I have completed Master of Professional Accounting, from University of Balarat, Victoria, Australia in 2010. I have also got my MSS and BSS (Hons) degree from University of Dhaka in Economics. I have been living Australia since 2008 and came back August'2013.

My detail regarding address is also stated in JEXCA web directory. if any of our younger brothers need any information regarding your mentioned purpose, they can contact with me. I will be happy to co-operate with them.

Thank a lot

Best regards,

Education/Admission in Germany - Part I

Recently I got a request from my friend Hasan Zaman, 6/309 in Melbourne. He wanted to know admission information/formalities in German educational institutes for his nephew in Dhaka. I also got requests (emails and telephone calls) from other cadets (specially junior cadets), who also wanted to know more on the topic.

Many years ago, when I myself was a student, I knew more on German education/admission system. Now, having very less contact with the academic system,
I had to collect the information over different sources.

I am putting below two emails from Mr. Ahmed Sharif Zamy (brother-in-law of Momtaz Hasan Khan, 6/336) to Touhid Kamal (nephew of Hasan Zaman, 6/309).

Dear Kamal

Good day. This is zamy from Munich, Germany. As from Farid Vai mail i am writing you some steps for admission in Germany that almost fit for every university in Germany.
There are two intakes in a year but not for all subjects. Most of subjects has there intake on winter semester. I will write about one link in this mail which will guide you everything about all the university application Procedure, Deadline, Requirements and relate with studies in Germany.

Winter Semester:
Admission: Application starts from January to June. Final Admission by July to August. May vary for different university. Find out in the link

Summer Semester:
Admission: Application starts from July to December. Final Admission by January to February. Find out in the link

General Required Documents:
1. Complete application. Can be found in the links
2. Curriculum Vitae (2 Pages with Photo).
3. Statement of Purpose (SOP) / motivation letter 1 or 2 Page. Note: Most of the university has their own format find out throw the links. if any university doesnt provide, then make your own in 4 to 5 paragraph in one page.
4. Copy of Original Certificate (Certificate and Transcripts from Bachelor degree to SSC) Notarized from German Embassy.
5. IELTS Certificate with score 6 or above (depends on university requirement). Some university accept the meduim of instruction in Bachelor degree. Then you nedd a certificate from your University that the study medium was in English.
6. Your position Certificate comparing to the students at your batch during your final year. It is not mandatory but some university ask for this.
7. Extra Curriculum Certificate, Job Certificate and Membership.
8. Passport copy (first two page and Last Page)

International Programmes - DAAD - Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst

In the link you have to search for university according to your field of interest. almost every university offers for two years of Master Degree. They have both German and English Medium. I would say to nlook for the english courses other wise you have to have German Language proficiency upto B1 level which is not so easy and time consuming. But if your future plan is to longterm stay in germany then you have to learn German language on course of time.

I wish your good luck for admission. If there any confusion arise just write me, i will try my best.

Best Regards
Zamy

Dear Touhid If you come for language VISA, then you can do only language, After finish your language you have to return Bangladesh and again you have to apply for admission and then VISA for further study, VISA for language cannot extend or convert to long term visa for further study, Tourist VISA and Language VISA are treated as short term VISA, There is only one possibility for the language student, that is for bachelor degree, In this case you must have an conditional admission, which means that after successful completion of your language you will enroll to a bachelor course, But it is little complicated, For Master degree, there is no such a rule,

In my last mail i forgot to mention that you will need two recommendation letter sealed and signed from your previous study.

Dear Imran,
If you ask me about “scholarship”, the answer is no. At least in the case of our cadets it is “no” .
There are some scholarships for PhD students, but for special cases.

The maximum German Universities are free of tuition fee, for example the three Universities in Berlin. Some of the universities in Germany have now introduced a less amount of tuition fee, but it very less in comparison with the universities in USA and some other countries.

Taking this opportunity, a good number of Bangladeshi students are coming to Germany after finishing their Masters in Bangladesh, getting/taking admission in MS/Masters level and showing their own funding. After you are once here, you will anyway manage your funding through part time work (Non academic student jobs. The German students also do the same).

I shall next try to add some more information and links on funding/admission fee in Germany.

Regards,
Farid, 6/322

Thank you vai, for your earliest reply. I have another question in my mind.

In this link of german embassy: http://www.dhaka.diplo.de/contentblob/1669296/Daten/4718781/Merkblaetter_Studentenvisa_Download.pdf
they have written this ""Proof of sufficient funds for the first year of studies (EUR 8,040.00) on a “blocked account” (Sperrkonto) with a bank in the Federal Republic of Germany.
Proof of secured subsistence may also be rendered by a declaration of commitment (Sections
66, 68 of the German Residence Act) or a confirmation of a scholarship (equaling EUR 8,040).""
I want to know if it's possible or not, from Bangladesh.

Dear Imran,

I have requested Zamy to go through your questions/inquiries. He will put the information very soon here.
Note, next time send me also a short message, allowing me/us to respond quickly.

Regards,
Farid Bhai

Dear Imran

Yes it is possible. You can open an online account in Deutsche Bank. In parallel you have to open a student file in (HSBC, Standard Charterd and so on). From that student account you can transfer the money to deutsche bank. For opening a student file you need Admission letter.

The link for online account in Deutsche Bank is below.....
